We are now looking for a motivated and energetic Accountant Assistant. The ideal candidate will integrate the Finance Team at Critical Software - a very motivated team operating from Critical’s offices in Coimbra, Lisbon, Porto and Southampton. The Accounting team is quite lean and focused, and the Accounting Assistant is expected to be hands-on and get involved at all levels of the accounting area.

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting in various accounting tasks and financial activities to support the finance department. You will work closely with senior accountants to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.

The company has a track record of fast growth both organically as well as through startup/spinoff investments and joint ventures in the technology space and therefore offers excellent prospects for professional growth. We are looking for a professional that can grow with the company and have the ambition to it.

What do we expect from you?

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities.
  • Support internal and external audits as needed.
  • ·Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and procedures.
  • Monitoring and accounting treatment of national and international purchases, including fiscal aspects.
  • Accounting and fiscal monitoring of payroll processing.
  • Control and accounting treatment of tangible and intangible fixed assets.

      What makes you a good candidate for this role?

      • Degree in accounting, business management, economics, or related field preferred.
      • Prior work experience in accounting or finance is a plus.
      • Understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
      • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
      • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Energetic, and open-minded, learning attitude.
      • Hands-on attitude, working with a small team.
      • Leadership skills and ambition to lead.
      • Goal-oriented, organized team player.
      • Excellent English language skills, speaking reading, and writing.
